My daughter Ondra, at 13, is a budding veterinarian. She specializes in chickens. Both she and her brother, Eric, have a real soft spot for chickens.

I got to the point that I thought they WEREN’T pregnant until my son came running into the house yelling, “Shilo has a head sticking out of her!”. We raced outside, (armed with all the llama books) and my birthing kit. Sure enough, Shilo did have a baby sticking out of her. She kept trying to sit on it (or so we thought). At the end of this month, 10 years ago, we got our first llama. His name was Johnson Joe. We had talked about getting one SOME DAY. I had been wanting one for about 15 years, but prior to 1992, I was single and living in the city with no hope of ever owning a llama.
